One of the officers of the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), who was part of the state security team escorting Frederick Kumi, also known as Abu Trica, fell off a moving vehicle at the Gbese District Court.
Abu Trica has been indicted by United States authorities and arrested by Ghanaian security agencies for his alleged role in defrauding elderly victims of more than US$8 million.
The incident occurred on December 23, 2025, after Abu Trica and his accomplices appeared before the court under heavy security.
Following the court proceedings, security officers were escorting the Ghanaian nationals, who had been remanded into custody out of the court premises.
However, in a video that has since gone viral, one of the NACOC officers, who was riding in a pickup security vehicle with his colleagues, lost his balance on top of the vehicle as the driver sped off from the court premises.
The officer fell off the moving vehicle but quickly got back on his feet, picked up his firearm and composed himself before running to catch up with the vehicle.
Meanwhile, during the court proceedings, some supporters of Abu Trica were heard wishing him well. In one instance, a voice speaking in Twi was heard saying, “God be with you. Everything will be fine,” as he was ushered into the court premises.
Abu Trica was arrested by authorities in Ghana on Thursday, December 11, 2025.
According to unsealed documents from the US Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Ohio, Abu Trica is accused of being part of a criminal network that targeted senior citizens through online romance scams across the United States since 2023.
Prosecutors allege that Abu Trica and his conspirators used Artificial Intelligence software to assume false identities and cultivate intimate online relationships with victims.

They then gained the trust of elderly individuals through social media and dating platforms before soliciting money or valuables under false pretenses, including urgent medical expenses, travel costs, and investment opportunities.
The indictment further claims that once funds were transferred, Abu Trica helped distribute the money from Ohio to conspirators in Ghana and other locations.
He is currently facing charges of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, money laundering conspiracy, and a forfeiture specification. If convicted, he could face up to 20 years in prison.
