Sights like these are not common, but in a video that is fast going viral, President John Dramani Mahama has been captured taking a chatty walk with former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

This happened on Saturday, September 6, 2025, when the two high-profile personalities met at the final funeral rites of Sheikh Ali Akwatima, a Muslim cleric.

Mahama and Bawumia, in an inaudible conversation, were captured walking side by side as they joined others to mourn with the bereaved family.

Former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, was also present, leading the high-profile personalities during the funeral.

John Mahama, who contested the 2024 general elections on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), defeated Dr Bawumia, who represented the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

However, Dr Bawumia has indicated his intention to make a political comeback in the 2028 Election, while Mahama’s term in office is set to end in 2028 after serving two terms.
