Portugal came from behind to defeat Spain 5-3 on penalties and win the 2025 UEFA Nations League title at the Allianz Arena on June 8, 2025.

Spain began the game on a strong note, dominating possession consistently, which led to the first goal by Martín Zubimendi in the 21st minute after he fired a powerful shot.

Nuno Mendes reacted brilliantly, taking a thunderous strike that went past Unai Simon of Spain to level the game.

Mikel Oyarzabal restored Spain’s lead in the 45th minute, easing the ball past the Portuguese goalkeeper.

The Seleção das Quinas mounted pressure in the second half which helped them create a chance in the box where Cristiano Ronaldo neatly tapped the ball into the net to make it 2-2.

With the score remaining a draw after extra time, the game went into penalties, and Álvaro Morata’s miss handed Portugal the victory, securing their second Nations League title.

Nuno Mendes was awarded the Man of the Match award for putting up an excellent performance, scoring, assisting, and limiting Lamine Yamal’s effectiveness in the game.
