Manchester United goalkeeper André Onana has gone viral for swapping his usual spot between the sticks for a striker’s role in a street football match in Cameroon.
In a widely circulated video online, the 29-year-old was seen playing casually with locals, leading the line, making runs, and even trying to score, far from the intense spotlight of Old Trafford.
Onana, currently on holiday, has had a turbulent year in Manchester. After two testing seasons, reports suggest that the club is exploring the idea of replacing him ahead of the new campaign.
Ligue 1 side AS Monaco is reportedly interested and preparing an official approach for the Cameroonian shot-stopper, who joined United in 2023.
But away from the noise and transfer rumours, Onana seems to be enjoying some grassroots joy.
His hometown appearance not only brought smiles to fans but also showcased a different side of him, a player still very much in love with the game.
Before hitting the pitch, Onana had visited Burkina Faso, where he met with President Ibrahim Traoré and supported a charity initiative led by his former teammate Bertrand Traoré.
He’s using his offseason for both community engagement and some playful football moments.
