The one-week celebration for the late Akua Donkor, the flagbearer of the Ghana Freedom Party (GFP), was held on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in her hometown of Ejuratia, located in the Kwabre East District of the Ashanti Region.

Hundreds of mourners gathered to pay their respects to the late presidential candidate, and, as is typical at Ghanaian funerals, there was plenty of dancing and music.

A viral video from the event shows the reaction of mourners when the DJ played the 2024 campaign song of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Nacee’s ‘Kwen Kwen’.

The crowd, including both the young and old, and even some attendees wearing New Patriotic Party (NPP) paraphernalia, got into excitement and displayed all manner of dance moves.

    About Akua Donkor’s death:

Akua Donkor’s demise on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, plunged Ghanaians into a state of shock.

Her family confirmed that she died on Monday, October 28, 2024, at the Ridge Hospital in Accra, where she had been receiving treatment after falling ill. She was 83 years old.

Akua Donkor had been the presidential candidate for the Ghana Freedom Party for the upcoming December 7, 2024, election.

Following her death, the party nominated Kwabena Agyeman Appiah Kubi (Roman Fada) as her replacement, but he was later disqualified by the Electoral Commission (EC).
