Following the announcement of the resumption of the Ghana Premier League by the Ghana Football Association, Legon Cities have geared up for their game against Asante Kotoko.

With no league games for almost a month and an early exit from the FA Cup, the team had to turn to friendly matches to maintain their sharpness and energy. However, Kwaku Manu revealed that the long break took a psychological toll on the squad.

“It has affected us a lot because we were in form compared to the previous matches we played before the break came,” he said.

Nonetheless, head coach Yaw Acheampong is optimistic that his team has the capability to turn their season around.

“My mission is to help the team escape relegation and that’s exactly what I’m doing, and so far it’s not bad, so let’s see how it goes,” Acheampong said.

Meanwhile, left-back Joseph Amoah remains confident that the team has what it takes to secure all three points against Asante Kotoko on Sunday, March 9, 2025, in their battle for survival.

“Our training sessions have been focused on improving our goal-scoring abilities, and we’ve motivated ourselves to perform at our best in our next match. We’re determined to secure a win against Kotoko and earn the maximum points,” Amoah added.

Overall, it has been a challenging season for Legon Cities. Twelve losses in 19 games see them sit 16th on the league standings. But they will be hoping that the league’s resumption provides them with the opportunity to turn their fortunes around.
