Highlife legend Kojo Antwi, popularly known as “Mr Music Man,” laid his mother, Madam Mary Adwoa Nyamaa, to rest on Saturday, July 12, 2025, in his hometown of Obo-Kwahu, Eastern Region.

He was joined by a host of family, friends, colleagues, and supporters who came to mourn with him in his time of loss.

However, the funeral was not all doom and gloom. Videos making waves on social media showed the Highlife maestro bringing mourners to their feet with a heartfelt live performance.

Dressed in black trousers, a black-and-white overall, his signature black glasses, and headgear, Kojo Antwi stood before an emotional crowd to sing some of his personal songs as a tribute to his mother.

His performance saw mourners rise to their feet to dance with him as they celebrated Madam Nyamaa’s legacy.

Kojo Antwi, the fourth of nine siblings, has often credited his mother as the inspiration behind some of his most enduring hits, especially “Bre Bre Anowaa” from his 1996 album, ‘To Mother Africa.’
