A beautiful thing unfolded at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium as disappointed Hearts of Oak fans showered centre-back Kelvin Osei Asibey with money despite his role in their defeat to Asante Kotoko on Sunday, December 15, 2024.

Osei Asibey, who had a great game overall, was at fault for the solitary goal that gave Kumasi Asante Kotoko victory in the Super Clash.

Despite his mishap, Hearts of Oak fans at the stadium appreciated his performance and blessed him with monetary gifts.

After the game, Osei Asibey went over to the supporters to apologize for his error, but the Hearts fans responded with applause, with some of them also throwing money at him.

Hearts of Oak lost to Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the first Super Clash of the 2024/2025 season following a last-minute goal by Albert Amoah.

Albert Amoah pounced on a miscommunication between Hearts goalkeeper Benjamin Asare and Kelvin Osei to score a late winner for Asante Kotoko.

Amoah was quick to seize the opportunity, tapping the ball into the empty net to hand Kotoko all three points.

With this victory, Kotoko now have 6 wins, 3 draws, and 4 losses from 13 matches, placing them 6th on the league table with 21 points.

Hearts of Oak, who have 5 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses from 12 matches, sit 7th with 19 points.

This was the 115th meeting between these two footballing giants.

Kotoko have now won 39 times, while Hearts of Oak have 38 victories, with 39 matches ending in a draw.
