The one-week observation for the late Asante Kotoko fan, Francis Yaw Frimpong, affectionately known as Pooley, took place on Sunday, February 16, 2025.

Representatives from the Ghana Football Association, some Ghana Premier League clubs as well as Ghana Police Service were all present at the event.

Hearts of Oak, Bechem United, Nations FC, and Bibiani Gold Stars were the GPL clubs that showed up to mourn with Kotoko at Heroes Park in Kumasi.

Asante Kotoko players and fans led by the popular fan group Porcupine Tertiary attended the event as they mourned their beloved.

Following the one-week observation, the Reds expressed their gratitude to all institutions and individuals who attended the event.

“Asante Kotoko SC, through this note, expresses our sincerest appreciation for your exceptional efforts and support during the one-week observation of our departed supporter, Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley. Though grieving, the club is overwhelmed by your massive show of love, unity, and the preservation of culture.

We assure you that, with your support, we can make a difference in the sport we all love. Special mentions go to the Ghana Police Service, the GFA, GHALCA, Hearts of Oak, Bechem United, Bibiani Gold Stars, Ashanti Gold, Nations FC, and the entire football community,” the club wrote.

Pooley was stabbed to death during a league game between Nsoatreman and Kotoko on Sunday, February 2, 2025, in Nsoatre.
