Former Black Stars defender Rashid Sumaila has given fans a rare glimpse inside his luxurious mansion in Ghana.
In an Instagram post, the experienced centre-back appeared relaxed and in high spirits as he entertained friends within the impressive walls of his home, showcasing a lifestyle that reflects the rewards of a successful football career.
Sumaila began his football journey with Ebusua Dwarfs and rose to prominence at Asante Kotoko, where he played a key role in helping the club secure the 2012/13 Ghana Premier League title.
His stellar performances earned him a move to South Africa’s Mamelodi Sundowns, where he continued to shine, helping the club clinch the 2013/14 Premier Soccer League title.
His consistency and dominance at the back eventually caught the attention of then-Black Stars coach Kwesi Appiah, who named him in Ghana’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Although he didn’t feature in any of the matches, being part of the squad on football’s biggest stage was a major milestone in his career.
Sumaila’s success didn’t stop there. He ventured into the Middle East, joining Kuwait’s Qadsia SC, where he lifted multiple trophies including the Kuwait Emir Cup, Kuwait Premier League, and Crown Prince Cup.
He later joined Serbian giants Red Star Belgrade and was part of the squad that won the Serbian SuperLiga in the 2018/19 season.
Earlier in his career, Sumaila also claimed gold with Ghana’s U23 team at the 2011 All-Africa Games, an early indication of the bright path ahead.
