The Vice President and the 2024 Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and his wife, Samira Bawumia, spent the New Year at the Weija Leprosarium in Accra.

This information was shared on the X page of Citi FM on Wednesday, January 1, 2024, stating, “Vice President @mbawumia and his wife, @SBawumia, celebrate the New Year with the beautiful community at the Weija Leprosarium.”

In a video accompanying the post, Dr. Bawumia and his wife are seen interacting with the community and serving food at the Leprosarium.

The Vice President, who is a Patron of Lepers Aid Ghana, has been a regular visitor to the Weija Leprosarium, demonstrating his continued support for the community.

It was established mainly for cured lepers and to serve as a haven for them against the stigmatisation.
