Asante Kotoko’s Toyota Cup celebrations reached a royal climax on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, as the club officially presented the trophy to their Life Patron, His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi.
Fresh from their dramatic 3-2 penalty shootout victory over South African giants Kaizer Chiefs in Durban, the Porcupine Warriors gathered at the palace to honour the Asantehene, a longstanding symbol of the club’s identity and inspiration.
The Kotoko delegation was led by Interim Management Committee chairman Nana Apinkrah, with players, technical staff, and other top officials joining the proud presentation ceremony.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu II received the trophy with smiles, applauding the team for bringing glory to Asanteman and Ghana as a whole.
Saturday’s final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium saw goalkeeper Mohammed Camara rise to the occasion with three crucial penalty saves, after a tense goalless draw in regulation time.
The victory marked a significant milestone for the club as they prepare for the upcoming Ghana Premier League season and the CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
The presentation at Manhyia was not only ceremonial but also deeply symbolic, a moment to reaffirm the club’s bond with its royal heritage.
Having fulfilled their royal duty, the team is now expected to continue their pre-season training in Cape Coast, aiming to build on their momentum and hit the ground running when the new season kicks off.
