Asamoah Gyan rolled back the years with a moment of pure brilliance during the African Legends Gala held in Libreville, Gabon, on Sunday, June 1, 2025, leaving fans and fellow icons in awe.
The event, which featured some of Africa’s most celebrated football names, including Emmanuel Adebayor, El Hadji Diouf, and Florent Malouda, was more than just a nostalgic friendly.
It also served as a heartfelt tribute to late Gabonese footballers, notably Aaron Boupendza, who tragically passed away in April.
But while the game had emotional undertones, it was Gyan who lit up the pitch with a sensational piece of skill that went viral within hours.
Receiving a pass under pressure, the former Ghana and Sunderland striker faked a pass with the outside of his foot, sending his marker sliding helplessly in the wrong direction.
Gyan then cheekily flicked the ball in the opposite direction and breezed past, drawing roars of laughter and applause from the crowd.
The move was a classic reminder of Gyan’s flair and football intelligence, traits that made him Ghana’s all-time top scorer and one of Africa’s most respected strikers.
The match brought together a glittering cast of former stars including Anthony Baffoe, Mark Fish, and a host of former African internationals.
But for all the smiles and tributes, it was Gyan’s moment of magic that stole the show and reminded fans just how unforgettable his talent truly was.
