Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has extended gestures of goodwill to the Nsawam Prisons and the Accra Psychiatric Hospital on the occasion of her birthday, November 22, 2025.
Through her Chief of Staff, Hon. Alex Segbefia, the Vice President donated a substantial consignment of essential items, including cash, rice, sugar, oil, sardines, water, and soft drinks, to the Nsawam Prisons.
Notably, the Vice President also ensured that the female inmates received sanitary towels, demonstrating her commitment to addressing the specific needs of vulnerable populations.
The donation was warmly received by the Deputy Director of Prisons, Commander Patrick Thomas Seidu, who expressed profound gratitude for the Vice President’s thoughtful gesture. In a separate initiative, Hon. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo led a team to the Accra Psychiatric Hospital, where they presented a generous donation of rice, sugar, tinned fish, tomatoes, water, cash, and a cooked meal to the patients.
The items were received by Dr. Peggy Asiedu Ekremet, Deputy Clinical Coordinator, and other senior officials, who appreciated the Vice President’s kindness and consideration. In a statement, Professor Opoku-Agyemang expressed her heartfelt thanks to all who wished her a happy birthday, acknowledging the significance of their support and prayers.
“We must continue to thank God for His mercies and also remind others that they matter, even when their circumstances are very difficult,” the Vice President said, emphasizing the importance of compassion and empathy in our society.
The Vice President’s gestures have undoubtedly brought joy and comfort to the beneficiaries, underscoring her commitment to promoting the welfare of all Ghanaians, particularly the marginalized and vulnerable.
