She is renowned for her lightning-fast maths skills during her long spell on TV show Countdown.
Carol Vorderman was therefore well placed to negotiate a bargain when she recently visited an antiques fair at a Scottish stately home, helping longtime friend Alan Carr furnish his newly bought castle nearby.
In a social media post she cheered her ‘stunning’ visit to the area, and thanked the Chatty Man star for ‘the best time, adding: ‘I truly love your new home… What a stunning new chapter.’
Carr, 50, bought 17-bedroom Ayton Castle in Berwickshire earlier this year for about £3.3million following his victorious stint in Celebrity Traitors, in Ardross Castle, north of Inverness, last year.
His move to the A-listed property is now being captured for a new Disney Plus series.
The comic and 65-year-old Vorderman teamed up for a visit to Paxton House Antiques Fair, with a crew from the series in tow.

He was pictured carrying a life-sized stuffed toy cow from a stall run by oddities firm Curiosities Killed the Cat, and said he wanted to find new items to furnish his country pile as all he currently has to fill it are ‘bits from Ikea’.
Paxton House posted on social media that staff had been thrilled to welcome the TV stars and said: ‘What a buzz for our estate and small team. We can’t wait to watch the TV series, welcome to the beautiful Scottish Borders, Alan Carr.’
Last week Carr launched plans to turn derelict potting sheds in the grounds of his castle into a 48-seater cafe and estate shop.
Scottish Borders Council is due to make a decision on his planning application by the end of next month.
The comedian has insisted Ayton Castle is his main home, and has also said: ‘Some men when they have a midlife crisis buy a Lamborghini or grow a ponytail, but me – I want my very own castle.’
