The Volta Region has officially commenced activities for the 41st National Farmers’ Day with the grand opening of the Agricultural Fair and Exhibition, drawing together dignitaries, traditional authorities, farmers, fishers, processors, and exhibitors from across the country.

The ceremony marked the beginning of a week-long celebration honouring the vital contributions of Ghana’s agricultural workforce.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Emelia Arthur (MP), the Chief Director of the Ministry, Madam Marian Kpakpah, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to strengthening fisheries management and enhancing support for fishers and processors nationwide.

She emphasised that investments in sustainable fishing practices and value addition remain central to boosting livelihoods within the sector.

The event featured colourful cultural displays, uplifting speeches, and the official opening of the exhibition, which highlights Ghana’s finest innovations and products in agriculture and fisheries.

With the fair now underway, the nation turns its attention to celebrating the farmers, fishers, and processors who continue to feed Ghana and sustain its economy ahead of the main Farmers’ Day ceremony.
