The future of Ghana’s economy shone brighter at this year’s National Economic Leadership Forum (NELEF 2025), as VODEC Africa reaffirmed its commitment to youth empowerment by awarding GH₵120,000.00 in funding support to young entrepreneurs with bold ideas and innovative solutions.

From hundreds of applications nationwide, 36 finalists were carefully selected and groomed through a transformational training workshop. After weeks of mentorship and capacity-building, the finalists pitched their ventures at the Accra City Hotel, where 10 outstanding businesses emerged as winners of the VODEC Africa Business Idea Challenge 2025.

The winners, representing diverse sectors such as agribusiness, technology, renewable energy, and creative industries, walked away with funding packages to accelerate their ventures, scale their operations, and expand their impact.

Speaking at the forum, Daniel Asomani, Founder of VODEC Africa, emphasized that supporting young innovators is more than an act of goodwill — it is a deliberate investment in Ghana’s economic transformation.

These are not just statistics,” Mr. Asomani declared. “They are blueprints for transformation, roadmaps to prosperity, and pathways to the Africa of our dreams.”

He also used the platform to call for a radical shift in Ghana’s higher education system, proposing that universities allow students to replace traditional thesis writing with entrepreneurial product development.

According to him, such a change could increase graduate-led startups by at least 15% by 2027 if adopted across ten universities.

The NELEF 2025, held in honour of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah’s birthday, brought together policymakers, industry leaders, academics, and students under the theme:

In line with the theme, Mr. Asomani unveiled seven transformational ideas aimed at reshaping Ghana’s socio-economic future, with entrepreneurship and youth empowerment at the heart of his message.

Participants at the forum praised the initiative as timely, describing it as a catalyst for addressing unemployment, bridging the skills gap, and positioning Ghana as a hub for African innovation.

For the young entrepreneurs who received funding, this was more than just financial support it was a validation of their dreams and a launchpad to create businesses that will inspire the next generation.

With bold ideas, dedicated partners, and visionary leadership, VODEC Africa and NELEF 2025 have set the tone for building a future where Ghana’s youth are not just job seekers but job creators.
