    Violence in SHSs threatens national peace – NPC

    The National Peace Council (NPC) has raised alarm over growing violence and intolerance in Senior High Schools (SHSs), warning that the trend could undermine the country’s progress if left unchecked.

    The concern follows revelations that some students carry weapons to school and inter-school sporting events because of fears of attacks from students of rival schools.

    The development came to the fore after the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Wednesday closed down the Mount Sinai Senior High School and Okuapeman Senior High School in the Eastern Region following violent clashes between students of the two schools.

    The NPC has consequently called on the government, GES, teachers, parents and other stakeholders in the education sector to work together to address the growing violence in schools. Read More
