Vinicius Jr's Real Madrid contract will end in 2027 Vinicius Jr’s Real Madrid contract will end in 2027

Brazilian winger Vinicius Jr’s contract renewal talks with Real Madrid are said to have been put on hold following a disagreement over financial demands.

According to Spanish sports journalist Josep Pedrol, who works with El Chiringuito, the negotiations have not been finalised yet.

It was noted that the player is committed to staying at the club for a longer period but wants a significant increment in his salary to match his performances.

Vinicius renewed his contract in 2022, signing a 75 million euros deal for five years with an average salary of 15 million euros net per season.

Reports indicate that he is requesting an average salary of 20 million euros net per season which would extend to 2030.

The request, if granted, would make the Brazilian the highest-paid player at Real Madrid, surpassing Kylian Mbappe’s 15 million euros net per season salary.

The Los Blancos have a salary policy where no player will be paid beyond 15 million euros net per person to avoid falling victim to Financial Fair Play (FFP) rules in the future.

This has led to a pause in the talks over the salary increase for this summer with talks expected to resume in the 2025/2026 season.

Vinicius’ recent decline in performance has also contributed to the delay in the contract renewal as the club monitors his progress.

Saudi Arabian clubs and European teams including Paris Saint-Germain are interested in the player if he decides to exit.
