A viral video has captured Ghanaian business mogul Ibrahim Mahama pleading with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, during the funeral of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.

In the footage, Otumfuo is seen sitting in state and receiving mourners as part of the four-day funeral rites for the late queen mother.

Ibrahim Mahama, who was among the sympathisers at Manhyia Palace to commiserate with the Asantehene, approached to shake hands with him. After the handshake, Otumfuo, with a stern expression, was heard speaking in an inaudible tone to Ibrahim Mahama.

The two exchanged brief words before Ibrahim was seen holding onto the Asantehene and pleading with his hands, after which he moved aside for other mourners to greet him.

Among the dignitaries who were present at the funeral were President John Dramani Mahama, former Presidents John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and former First Lady Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings.

Also in attendance were members of the diplomatic community, a former presidential candidate, ministers of state, and members of the Judiciary, led by Acting Chief Justice Paul Baffor-Bonnie.
