The Upper West Regional Football Association has launched the U-15 Girls Regional Colts League, marking a renewed drive to promote grassroots women’s football in the region.

The program, funded by FIFA and implemented through the Ghana Football Association, was unveiled at a ceremony attended by school authorities, club administrators and coaches. The league is designed to provide structured competition for young girls and help nurture talent from an early age.

Addressing participants, RFA Chairman Sadugu Yahaya described the initiative as a major opportunity for the region to strengthen its female football base. He called on schools and clubs to fully embrace the program to ensure its long-term success and sustainability.

Women’s Football Desk Chairperson, Madam Saweiba Mohammed, urged stakeholders to treat the league as a developmental pathway rather than just a competition. She emphasized the importance of discipline, teamwork and technical growth in shaping the next generation of female footballers.

The U-15 Girls Regional Colts League is expected to create consistent playing opportunities while empowering young girls through sport. Matches are scheduled to begin this weekend at designated centers across the Upper West Region.
