The Universal Friendship Organisation (UFO) has presented the UFO Peace and Development Excellence Awards 2024 to H.E. Dr. Samuel Ben Owusu, recognizing his outstanding contributions to peacebuilding.

This prestigious award was presented during a ceremony where Dr. Owusu was unveiled as Special Envoy to Ghana for the African Union Agenda 2063.

UFO President, Samuel Adobah, emphasized the crucial role of peacebuilding in nation-building, stating that individuals who promote peace, unity, and stability in their communities should be recognized and celebrated. He highlighted that peace and unity are essential prerequisites for achieving sustainable development goals and fostering harmonious societies and global stability.

Adobah also drew attention to Ghana’s ranking in the 2024 Global Peace Index, where the country was ranked second in West Africa and fourth in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although Ghana saw a drop in its overall global ranking, Adobah stressed the need for proactive measures to prevent localized conflicts and address emerging threats.

The UFO is calling on everyone to commit to promoting peace, emphasizing that it is not just a noble vision but a call to action. Adobah urged African leaders to prioritize peace and stability to ensure the continent’s progress

As the world continues to face complex challenges, the need for peacebuilding and conflict resolution has never been more pressing.

The UFO’s efforts to promote peace and recognize individuals who have made significant contributions to this cause are a step in the right direction.

By working together, we can create a more peaceful and stable world, where individuals and communities can thrive.
