    The University of Development Studies (UDS) team has returned to Ghana after becoming the first African university to win the World University Football Championship.

    UDS were crowned champions of the world after a thrilling 2-1 extra-time victory over Brazil’s University of Paulista (UNIP) in Dalian, China, on Sunday, September 28, 2025.

    The first batch of the UDS team arrived in Ghana on Thursday, October 2, 2025. They were welcome by a nation proud of its historic achievement, driven by the determination to make both themselves and all Ghanaians proud.

    UDS win historic World University Games for first time

    “WORLD CHAMPIONS RETURN HOME! History has been made! Team #UDS is the first university in Africa to win the prestigious Dalian University World Cup Championship,” the official account of UDS posted on social media as sighted by GhanaWeb Sports.

    The UDS account added that “The first batch of our proud champions has safely arrived in Accra. Welcome home, heroes!”

    UDS ended the World University Football Championship in China as champions without losing a single game.
