Ghana star Antoine Semenyo watched from the screens in Manchester as his new team Man City suffered a shocking 3-1 defeat to Norwegian outfit Bodo/Glimt in Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League.
The attacker, who joined the Citizens in the winter transfer window from Bournemouth, was left out of the squad by Pep Guardiola as he was ineligible to feature for the Etihad-based side.
Due to Semenyo’s January move, he was not registered in Manchester City’s Champions League squad list back in September and as a result cannot go straight into the squad.
UEFA rules dictate that new January signings cannot be added to the roster until the knockout stages begin in February.
The Black Stars attacker can only get to feature in the competition for Pep Guardiola’s side should they progress to the knockout phase of the competition as he is expected to be registered for the next round once the winter transfer window officially shuts and clubs submit their updated squads.
He scored in his first two games for City, however he suffered a major setback on his Premier League debut as he started in City’s 2-0 loss to Manchester United in the Manchester derby last weekend.
