The Ghana U-20 women national team have advanced to the next qualifying round of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers following a hard-fought victory away at South Africa.

After a pulsating 2-2 draw in the first leg in Accra, the Black Princesses got the job done at the Nelspruit-Mbombela with a slim 1-0 victory over the Basetsana to win the tie and punch their ticket to the next round.

The contest was a very close one with both teams coming in strongly resulting into a scoreless half-time. Ghana bounced back stronger after the interval and finally found the back of the net in the 63rd minute courtesy substitute Priscilla Mensah.

Coach Charles Simpson and his girls after this precious victory will now face the winner of the game between Zambia and Uganda and will definitely return home to prepare adequately for the next phase.

The Black Princesses have played in the last seven consecutive U-20 Women’s World Cup and will hope to extend to eight this time to the 2026 edition which will be held in Poland in September this year.
