Ghanaian dancehall musician Shatta Wale is no stranger to controversy. From being jailed to ‘beefing’ with colleagues, pastors, entertainment journalists, businessmen, and policemen, the artiste has been involved in scandals of all sorts.

On the back of his most recent scandal, which involves the seizure of his Lamborghini vehicle by the EOCO, here are some instances where Shatta Wale has been trending for the wrong reasons, acts that landed him in ruthless encounters with the law.

    1. Death Prophecy and Arrest over Fake Shooting (October 2021)

In mid‑October 2021, Shatta Wale found himself embroiled in legal controversy after claiming he had been shot on October 18 following a threatening prophecy.

A pastor dubbed Jesus Ahuofe had foretold on radio that the artist would be assassinated, which led Shatta Wale to stage a fake shooting incident to dramatise the warning and draw attention to it.

Authorities swiftly arrested the musician, accusing him and his associates of spreading false information likely to incite fear and disrupt public peace.

Shatta Wale and others were remanded to custody for a week before being granted bail of GH¢100,000.

At his court hearing on October 26, he pleaded guilty to publishing false news and was fined GH¢2,000 with a non‑custodial sentence, concluding the matter in court by late 2021.

Following his release, the musician defended his actions, calling the hoax a necessary move to expose the dangers of fake prophecies.

He explained that the stunt helped curb the influence of individuals promulgating false revelations that incited public fear and disrupted mental well‑being.

    2. Lamborghini Seizure by EOCO (June–August 2025)

Nearly four years later, Shatta Wale was again at the centre of a high‑profile law‑enforcement action, this time involving an asset seizure.

In early June 2025, the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) carried out a search of his Trassaco Valley Phase 1 residence in Accra under the Surveillance and Asset Recovery Unit (SARU).

The operation was initiated in collaboration with the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI) and the Department of Justice to reclaim assets tied to Ghanaian fraud convict Nana Kwabena Amuah, who is serving an 86‑month sentence in the U.S.

During the lawful operation, EOCO seized a 2019 Lamborghini Urus, which was found in Shatta Wale’s possession.

Although the artiste was not accused of wrongdoing, the seizure was carried out professionally and without incident.

Shatta Wale was permitted to surrender the vehicle voluntarily after expressing concerns about his public image if the seizure became widely publicised.

However, in August, Shatta Wale went on a barrage on social media, accusing EOCO boss Raymond Archer of leading armed officials to his house.

This prompted the EOCO to release an official statement clarifying the matter.
