The Western Central Regional Police Command says it has arrested two suspects for preparing to commit robbery near Asankraguah, in the Western Region.

The suspects, identified as Mohammed Abdul-Salam (28) and Karim Yakubu (42), were spotted hiding in a bush along a section of the road.

The two, according to the police, attempted to flee the scene upon noticing a police patrol team.

According to a statement issued by the police, the pursuit led to an abandoned mining site where the suspects jumped into a muddy pit in an attempt to evade capture.

However, the police officers managed to rescue them from the pit and successfully arrested them.

The police retrieved one (01) shotgun, three (03) AAA cartridges and one Nokia keypad mobile phone after they were arrested.

The suspects are currently in police custody assisting investigations.
