Two men have been rushed to hospital after a tobacco shop was torched near Brisbane overnight.

The men, aged in their 50s, had been sleeping in the shop to protect it, police said.

A group of people forced their way into the store and spread a flammable substance throughout the premises before the building burst into flames.

Four Queensland Fire Department crews rushed to the scene on Forestglen Crescent at Browns Plains in Logan about 12.20am on Friday.

The two men were rushed to hospital with life-threatening burns.

A wave of tobacconist arson attacks have swept through Melbourne and Sydney in recent years as battling syndicates attempt to wrestle control of the black market cigarette and vape trade.

It seems the fight has spread to other cities with stores in Brisbane and Perth getting attacked from October last year.

The scene of the latest arson has been cordoned off by police as detectives and fire investigators examine the building.

The owners of a toy store next door took to social media on Friday morning to say they had turned up for work and were devastated that their business had been damaged.

    More to follow.
