Two lorry drivers have died after their vehicles collided on the A15 on Christmas Eve morning.

Officers attended the Snitterby junction in Lincolnshire following a collision which involved a Volvo lorry and a Scania lorry at 9.33am.

The drivers of the lorries, both 51, were sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

One man was from the Barnsley area and the other man from the Cleethorpes area, police said.

Lincolnshire Police initially thought the crash had involved two lorries and a car.

But they later confirmed that no car was involved in this incident.

Motorists have been told to avoid the area as the road is likely to be closed for some time.

The force is now appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident, or who has dashcam footage, to come forward and speak to them.

A police spokesperson said: ‘We can confirm that two people have sadly died following a collision on the A15 near Caenby Corner, this morning.

‘Officers attended following the collision near the Snitterby junction, which involved a Volvo lorry and a Scania lorry. Further to our initial report, no car was involved in this incident.

‘Sadly, the drivers of both lorries were pronounced dead at the scene. Both men were aged 51: one man was from the Barnsley area, the other man from the Cleethorpes area.

    ‘The road remains closed.’
