The GH¢20 million defamation suit between Evangelist Patricia Asiedu, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, and gospel singer Empress Gifty took a dramatic twist at the Tema High Court as the two rivals clashed both legally and stylistically.
Before the court proceedings began on June 11, 2025, Empress Gifty made a grand entrance at the court premises in a customised Toyota Tundra, bearing the personalised number plate “Noko”—a slang term she has long associated with her brand.
However, this bold move did not sit well with Agradaa, who took to social media to issue a fiery response.
In a video that has since gone viral, Agradaa accused Empress Gifty’s husband, politician Hopeson Adorye, of purchasing the luxury vehicle solely due to social pressure.
“When we’re talking about powerful cars, you’ve brought a Tundra. Tundra is for the farm,” she ridiculed. “You’ve come to disgrace your wife, simply because of the pressure I have placed on you”
“You’ve wasted GHS 150 million for a customised number plate, just as a response to my pressure. Noko pressure, noko tantaliser. Meanwhile, you’ve not even registered the number plate with DVLA.”
Agradaa’s comments were in reaction to the reappearance of the phrase “Noko,” which has become a contentious issue between the two personalities.
Weeks earlier, Agradaa herself flaunted a “Noko” plate, sparking debates about who truly owns the brand.
The court appearance also saw a face-off between the couples, Agradaa with her husband, Angel Asiamah, and Empress Gifty with Hopeson Adorye, as tensions between the feuding parties remained high.
The GH¢20 million defamation case, rooted in months of social media bickering and accusations, has attracted public interest due to the high-profile nature of both women, who boast large followings in both the religious and entertainment sectors.
