A bus conductor, also referred to as a “trotro mate,” was killed in a sad armed robbery attack that occurred on Wednesday, April 23, in the Offinso South Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

Two people impersonating passengers tried to board a trotro bus along the Ayinasusu–Salam road, which led to the attack. In the process, the conductor was shot by a third accomplice who came out of the bushes.

Ibrahim Yogo, the assembly member for Ayinasusu, confirmed the event to Citi News, saying that the robbers then demanded a sack that was allegedly given to him in Wenchi while brandishing a gun.

Yogo called the police after the attackers threatened the residents with several warning shots.

When we heard gunshots, I called the police, and they came quickly, but by the time they got there, the armed robbers had already left. We have never encountered this issue before,” he explained.

Since then, police have started looking into the suspects in an effort to catch them.

With authorities being urged once more to improve road safety and shield commuters from violent crime, the event underscores the mounting security worries along regional transportation networks.
