The gleaming Democracy Cup 2025 trophy has begun its journey across Accra, symbolizing not just football glory, but also the values of unity, peace, and democracy.

The polished silverware, with eagle-shaped handles and fine engravings, was at the offices of the National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE), one of the stops of its nationwide tour on Friday, August 29, 2025.

From there, it will be presented at the Ga Mantse Palace, before finally making its way to Jubilee House where it will be shown to the President on September 1, 2025.

This year’s second edition of the Democracy Cup promises to be a spectacle. On Friday, September 5, 2025, Accra will come alive as Hearts of Oak lock horns with their city rivals, Great Olympics, at the Legon Stadium.

Before the main clash, there will be a curtain-raiser featuring Parliament vs Judiciary, with Parliament’s side captained by Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga.

The Democracy Cup, instituted by the Speaker of Parliament in 2024 and organized by Primeval Media, is more than a football match. It is a national project designed to unite Ghanaians under the spirit of sportsmanship, while also encouraging citizens to uphold the Constitution and the values of democracy.
