The Cape Coast Pragya Association is urging its members to comply with the government’s newly introduced Legislative Instrument (LI) on Road Traffic Regulations.

Speaking during an interview on Drive 2 Six with Akosowa Gallaxy on TW Radio 88.9, Mr. Sam, the Secretary of the association, emphasized the importance of embracing the updated regulations set forth by the Transport Ministry.

He noted that extensive stakeholder consultations had been held prior to the rollout of the new LI, making it a collective effort that should be respected. He added that it is important for every road user to be familiar with road traffic regulations, as this contributes to discipline and safety on the roads.

Touching on the relevance of the Pragya business, Mr. Sam stressed that the tricycle transport system has come to stay and plays a vital role in local mobility and employment. However, he noted that it would not be appropriate to remove them from the streets entirely but rather to ensure proper education and regulation.

He praised the Transport Ministry for already rolling out such education initiatives in some parts of Ghana and encouraged similar steps to be taken nationwide. He also cautioned riders to comply with the new LI, stressing that the safety of all road users, both drivers and pedestrians, depends on everyone’s cooperation.

“We all want safer roads, and the only way to get there is to follow the laws that are meant to protect us,” he stated.

The association is calling on all tricycle operators and related transport businesses in the region to cooperate fully with the directive for the greater good of all road users.
