English defender, Trent Alexander-Arnold’s iconic mural in Liverpool has been vandalised ahead of Real Madrid’s UEFA Champions League clash against the Reds at Anfiled on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.

The mural, located on the corner of Sybil Road near Anfield, features Alexander-Arnold in a Liverpool shirt.

It includes his reaction to winning the Champions League in 2019, when he declared: “I’m just a normal lad from Liverpool, whose dream has just come true.”

However, just hours before The Reds’ match against Los Blancos, an image has surfaced on social media showing white paint thrown over the depiction of Alexander-Arnold in his former number 26 Liverpool jersey.

According to the Daily Mail, the words “Adiós El Rata,” meaning “Goodbye Rat” in English, were written on the mural alongside three other statements branding the ex-right-back a “rat.”

This marks the third time Alexander-Arnold’s mural has been vandalised with similar words and imagery, the previous incidents occurring during his final game for Liverpool in May 2025 before his move to Spain.

The English star’s free transfer to Real Madrid triggered widespread backlash from Liverpool fans, many of whom expressed their disappointments.

Some attacked him with offensive messages on social media, while others burned his jersey in protest.

Alexander-Arnold is expected to face a hostile reception at Anfield as Los Blancos prepare to take on Liverpool in the Champions League.
