Jenissi Afena Amponsah Kyeremeh, a Class 2 pupil at Golden Child Academy in Berekum, Bono Region, has reportedly died in a stampede during a graduation ceremony.

The grieving mother, Beatrice Afena, spoke to Adom News, expressing outrage over the school’s response. She revealed that she only learned of the incident through a call from her sister and rushed to Holy Family Catholic Hospital, only to find her daughter already dead.

“My child died, yet the school went on with the event like nothing happened. To this day, no one from the school has come to explain or offer condolences,” she said tearfully.

Prophet Alex Amankona, Chairman of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA), stated that the school could not confirm any fatalities until the hospital released an official report.

Meanwhile, some parents condemned the school’s management, accusing the proprietor of callousness for proceeding with the ceremony despite the tragedy and injuries to other children.

Authorities are expected to launch an investigation into the incident in the coming days.
