Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts

Madam Abla Dzifa Gomashie, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has called on hoteliers to prioritize continuous training and capacity building for their staff, emphasizing that a well-equipped workforce is key to enhancing service quality.

She made this call during the launch of the Eagles Hospitality School, under the theme “Upscaling Ghana’s Hospitality workforce for service excellence”.

The school, championed by Eagles Hospitality Group in collaboration with NOVA Business School Africa is targeted at providing training while equipping students with needed skills to thrive in the industry.

“This is timely as we continue to position Ghana as a competitive and attractive destination in the global tourism and hospitality marketplace, there is an urgent and compelling need to equip our workforce with the right skills, mindsets and service orientation that will exceed international standard.”

She stressed on the importance of tourism, describing it as powerful economic driver in creating jobs, stimulating entrepreneurship, supporting local industries, among others.

She said despite the successes chalked, Ghana’s hospitality industry still faced some gaps especially in service delivery, customer care and leadership issues.

The tourism minister commended Eagles Hospitality Group and NOVA business school Africa for the partnership to supporting government’s vision of boosting the tourism industry.

“The establishment of the Eagles Hospitality School is not only commendable but necessary. It is my hope that the school will stand as a symbol of innovation, strategic thinking and private sector commitment by setting a global standard and beyond.”

Christian Asante, President, Eagles Hospitality Group expressed excitement having seen a project that had been in the pipeline over the past years finally come into existence.

“For us this is a big moment for Ghana’s hospitality industry. This shows how the industry is part of the country’s key growth. Top class service in our industry should not be seen as extra or foreign, hence the need to begin this new chapter”. he said.

He said the hospitality school through its would in the few years become the leading hospitality school in West Africa.

“We are blending theory with practicals so by the time our students graduate, they are not just book smart but are job ready to deliver excellent services anywhere in the country,” he said.

“The school is not going to be a typical academic institution. This is practical immersion. You come in, and you come out as a hospitality professional,” he said.

He revealed that hotel meeting rooms in Accra and Takoradi will be converted into training classrooms capable of hosting up to 100 students per session, with up to seven such rooms available.

Dr Edward Ackah-Nyamike, President, Hotels Association of Ghana also commended Eagles Hospitality Group and NOVA Business School Africa coming up with the initiative.
