The Greater Accra Super Zonal Games and Athletics Competition was officially launched today, July 3, 2025, at the El-Wak Sports Stadium in Accra.

The Super Zonals is a prestigious athletic event in Ghana that brings together top Senior High Schools from various zones to compete in track and field events, as well as other sporting disciplines.

This year’s edition will span two days and will feature prominent schools from Accra and its surrounding areas.

Notable schools such as PRESEC Legon, Accra Academy, St. Thomas Aquinas, and many others were present at the launch and opening ceremony held at El-Wak.

The Vice Chairman of the Greater Accra School Sports Association (GASSA) and Headmaster of Osu PRESEC, Vincent Esoah, delivered the opening address, urging the students to exhibit discipline and strive to make their schools proud.

“I only wish to remind ourselves that sports play a very important role. One of them is discovering and nurturing your talents. Though we are competing, we must do so in a friendly and respectful manner, so we can select the best athletes to represent Greater Accra at the national level,” he said.

The competitions will continue on Thursday, July 4, 2025, with finals in soccer, handball, volleyball, and basketball.

The athletics segment will begin on July 8 and conclude on July 9, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium.
