A top Democrat Senator is a bachelor no more after tying the knot with his much younger fiancée.
Corey Booker, 56, who represents the state of New Jersey in the US Senate announced on Sunday his marriage to Alexis Lewis, a 38-year-old real estate investment firm director.
The duo celebrated their nuptials over two ceremonies that took place during the Thanksgiving recess this past week.
One took place this past Monday in Newark, New Jersey, where Booker formerly served as Mayor and a member of the city council before his election to the US Senate. The second celebration was in Washington, D.C. on Saturday.
Lewis beamed in a custom made House of Gilles strapless sweetheart gown adorned with ‘layered lace and delicately hand-placed lace appliqués’ for the Washington ceremony.
The fashion house revealed the dress was ‘made in our NYC atelier’ and was paired with the ‘Chantilly lace cape adorned with hand-applied lace trims.’
Her look also included a cathedral-length tulle veil which had been ‘edged in lace and finished with a classic blusher.’
For the smaller civil ceremony in New Jersey, Lewis wore a chic knee length cream turtleneck dress paired with a cape.

‘Overflowing with gratitude. We said ‘I do’ in two places that shaped us – Cory’s beloved Newark and Alexis’s hometown of Washington, D.C. – first at the courthouse, then with our families,’ the couple captioned their social media posts.
Booker and Lewis also noted that their ‘Hearts [were] full and so grateful.’
Lewis, who now goes by Lewis Booker, celebrated with her own statement, adding: ‘After so many years on my own, I’m not entirely sure I believed I would get married.
‘But now, we’ve found each other at this stage of our lives, after epic personal journeys, and that deserves celebration.
‘Joy shared is joy multiplied, and that’s how our entire relationship has felt.’
The couple were inundated with messages of support, with many thrilled fans noting Lewis ‘looks like a First Lady’ and the couple ‘belong in the White House.’
Although social media users have historically compared Lewis to Booker’s actress ex Rosario Dawson, one well-wisher, Linda Dee, commented on a photo of the bride on Facebook that she ‘thought she was Meghan Markle for a minute.’

The New Jersey Senator announced his engagement just months ago during Labor Day weekend, which fell at the end of the extended congressional August break.
‘Alexis is one of the greatest unearned blessings of my life,’ he wrote in the initial gushing post in August.
‘She has transformed me, helping me to ground and center my inner life, and discover the joys of building a nurturing home with someone you love. I’m thrilled to share: Alexis and I are engaged.
‘I am savoring the soul-affirming wonder of everyday life with my partner, best friend, and now my fiancée.’
Booker was previously in a high-profile relationship with actress Rosario Dawson from 2019 to 2022. They even lived together for a time, but ultimately the couple called it quits while reportedly remaining friends.
Social media users remarked at the time on the shocking similarities between Dawson and Lewis’ physical appearance.
One X user wrote ‘Am I the only one noticing how similar Cory Booker’s fiancée looks to his longtime ex-girlfriend, Rosario Dawson?’
‘So call her ‘Nosario Dawson’ or ‘Rosario Fauxson’?’, another X user quipped.

Dawson was often seen by Booker’s side during his 2020 presidential campaign, and even once helped him raise money when she signed on to a fundraising appeal.
But this was Booker’s first engagement.
‘We are excited for this journey ahead, having so much fun, and feeling deeply grateful for the love, support, and energy so many of you have shared with us. We are truly blessed to be surrounded by such a beautiful community lifting us in love and commitment,’ the senator added in his August announcement.
Outside of occasional public events, Booker has mainly kept his love life private, something which has led some to speculate that he might be gay, which he has addressed in the past.
‘I love seeing on Twitter when someone says I’m gay, and I say, ‘So what does it matter if I am? So be it. I hope you are not voting for me because you are making the presumption that I’m straight’,’ he said.
Booker is considered to be a potential hopeful for the 2028 Democratic presidential nomination, and his attacks on his colleagues come as the Democrats are searching for new leader and political identity in the Trump era.

The New Jersey senator has made a name for himself with his passionate Senate outbursts and long-winded speeches in the chamber, recently setting a record for the longest ever solo address on the Senate Floor.
The 25-hour marathon speech started on March 31st and ran over a day into the evening of April 1st.
Prior to Dawson, the former mayor of Newark New Jersey, had a number of flings during his political career, including one with Instagram poet Cleo Wade and another instance when he asked out actress Mindy Kaling.
