Dancehall musician, Shatta Wale, has once again voiced his strong frustrations regarding what he perceives as pervasive negativity within Ghana’s media landscape.

During a live TikTok discussion on July 22, 2025, Shatta Wale asserted that the majority of entertainment journalists in the country possess a profound lack of in-depth music knowledge.

In his submission, he provocatively described journalists in the entertainment space as “villagers.”

“All the people sitting on our radios are from the village. So, when they come to the city, they would do whatever to make themselves famous,” he claimed.

Shatta Wale further characterised Ghanaian journalists as exhibiting a “know-it-all attitude,” arguing that much of the criticism in the media is unwarranted and negatively impacts creatives within the entertainment industry.

To illustrate his point, he referenced the reception of Ghanaian artist D-Black.

“Ghanaians don’t appreciate what D-Black is doing. Look at feature songs with autotune, but people love him in America,” he noted.

He reiterated his strong opinion, stating, “That is why I am saying there are too many villagers on our TVs and the radio. We don’t have people from America and London on our radio.”

Shatta Wale‘s comments stresses his long-standing grievances with how his music and the broader Ghanaian entertainment scene are covered by local media.

Most of the voices on radio today have that village mentality — and that’s just the truth.” – Shatta Wale 🇬🇭 #ShattaWale #MediaCritique #GhanaMedia #BoldStatements #RadioTalk #ShattaMovement ♬ original sound – Ghana Artists Club
