The viral clip of church congregants sharing the same spoon for Holy Communion has sparked concern about health risks.

In the widely shared video, the congregation stood before the altar and bowed before the priest to partake of Holy Communion as a sign of atonement and purity.

Meanwhile, the highlight of the sacred service was when congregants including women and children were fed from the same spoon and gracefully received it without objection.

The video showed the priest feeding a toddler with a spoon before feeding the adults with the same spoon.

Although some viewers expressed worry about the possibility of getting sick from sharing tongue saliva, others affirmed that sharing a spoon was common practice and that things have improved significantly since the COVID-19 pandemic.

    Below are some reactions,

@de_great_mirabel I go carry my spoon 🥄 come no vex

@p_oririweka I can’t even drink from same bottle or share same spoon when eating with my relatives talkless of strangers I don’t know, doctrine really is the end of us

@preachers_sonn At least Dey wipe the spoon clean nah….whats this? 🤮….that spoon is making the communion feel unholy.

@_blackswan.xx Herpes oooo, hepatitis oooo… oh that little baby too? God abeg … ignorance 😢😢

@irenenicey This whole church could be in danger for mpox
