A little boy has died after being struck by a car on Queensland‘s Sunshine Coast.
The toddler was hit in an incident on private property near Scholars Drive, Sippy Downs, on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to the scene at about 4.29pm following reports of a vehicle and pedestrian incident near the Chancellor State College primary campus.
However, it’s understood the child is not connected to the school, nor was the incident school-related.
A spokesperson for Queensland Ambulance said the toddler was assessed in a life-threatening condition with significant traumatic injuries but tragically died at the scene.
Police are now preparing a report for the coroner, while the Forensic Crash Unit (FCU) investigates the incident.
The FCU is appealing for witnesses or anyone with relevant vision to assist with enquiries.
Local councillor Christian Dickson said it was very distressing to learn that a young child had passed away.
