Nigerian singer Tiwa Savage has addressed her long-running feud with fellow artiste Seyi Shay, revealing what really caused their widely publicised salon confrontation years ago.
Speaking on the ‘Off Air’ podcast uploaded on October 11, 2025, Tiwa discussed the origins of the tension between her and Seyi Shay, saying it began after a diss track and accusations that she had tried to prevent other female artistes from getting certain opportunities in the industry.
The ‘Somebody’s Son’ hitmaker denied ever attempting to sabotage anyone’s career, stressing that she has always been an advocate for women in music.

She added that if she has an issue with someone, she prefers to address it directly rather than exchange words on social media.
“If you do something to me, I will let you know. I don’t have to let you know online. Like the whole shade thing, I’m not going to pretend like you and I are cool in a salon when you did a diss track,” Tiwa said.
Tiwa Savage recalled how hurt she was when she first heard claims that she had blocked opportunities, or “bags”, for Seyi Shay and fellow artiste Victoria Kimani.
According to her, the accusations were false and confusing because she had no reason to hold anyone back.
“That was painful, and I didn’t know where it was coming from. Till today, maybe I need to have a conversation with Shay. I heard that they thought I blocked their bag. How? If you’ve heard from anybody that I tried to block your bag, mention the person so I can address it. I would never do that; I’m so pro-women,” she said.
To further clear her name, Tiwa recounted how she once lost a major endorsement deal to Seyi Shay during her pregnancy.
She revealed that while expecting her son, Jamil, she was removed from a Pepsi campaign and replaced by Seyi, a situation she said proved she never tried to stop anyone’s success.
“When I got pregnant and had Jamil, I was taken off a Pepsi campaign, Longer Throat, and Shay was booked for it. Go back and check, it’s true. Shay was a brand ambassador; I wasn’t. I was taken off because I couldn’t snap back in time. So how am I stopping other people’s bag? I wasn’t even mad. I got in the gym and got my body back,” Tiwa explained.
The clash between the two singers made headlines in 2021 after a video of their encounter in a salon went viral.
In the video, Tiwa was seen confronting Seyi Shay over their strained relationship, which reportedly began years earlier after Seyi threw subtle jabs at her in her verse during Kiss Daniel’s ‘Fvck You Challenge’ in 2017.
