Shatta Wale paid an emotional tribute to his godfather, Tinny, during the maiden edition of Shatta Fest, held on Saturday, October 18, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The event, which drew thousands of fans and featured performances from top artistes across genres, was designed to celebrate Shatta Wale’s musical journey and his connection with fans and industry greats who have supported him over the years.

When introducing Tinny on stage, Shatta Wale went down on his knees in respect, drawing loud cheers and applause from the massive crowd.

In a heartfelt speech, Shatta Wale said, “This man right here is my godfather.

“When I had nothing, Tinny was the one who came through for me. He gave me a phone, gave me money, and even accommodation. Without him, I wouldn’t be standing here today.”

The “Melissa” hitmaker emphasized that the gesture was his way of showing gratitude to someone who believed in him during his early struggles in the industry.

“People see the glory but don’t know the story. Tinny played a big role in my life, and I’ll never forget that,” Shatta Wale told the cheering audience.

Tinny, visibly moved by the tribute, hugged Shatta Wale tightly on stage, marking a moment of unity and mutual respect between the two musicians.

Shatta Fest 2025, which is expected to become an annual event, featured back-to-back performances from Ghana’s leading artistes, including Samini, Medikal and other top artistes.

The concert celebrated not just Shatta Wale’s success but his enduring legacy.
