    Nigerian singer and songwriter Timi Dakolo has taken to social media to publicly call out Otega Ogra, Senior Special Assistant to President Bola Tinubu on Digital and New Media, over an unpaid performance fee.

    In a post on X (Twitter), Timi Dakolo wrote, “Mr @otegaogra, please pick your calls. I did my job.“

    Though Dakolo did not disclose further details in the post, a user believed to be close to the artist offered context.

    He revealed that the performance in question took place in August at a reception in Abuja.

    According to the source, Dakolo was contacted on the day of the event, paid his own way to Abuja, and performed with the understanding that payment would follow, but has been unable to reach Ogra since.

    In response, Otega Ogra issued a formal statement on his own X page, indirectly addressing the matter without naming Dakolo.

    “I see and have noted the commentary. I will not engage in explication where none is required. My record is public and stands on its merits. Any further attempt to personalise a clearly institutional matter will be met with formal correction and the appropriate professional and legal redress.” His tweet read

    Below are some of the reactions from internet users;

    “Yes, I’ll pay when I get the money. No, I don’t owe you. Which one? All these English and no message.“

    “Una go owe person still fey use court threaten them oririririshi.“

    “In Nigeria, always collect your full payment upfront to avoid stories that touch.“

    “The threat was very unnecessary, if you are owing Timi, PAY HIM. Timi is Unproblematic.”
