    Published: 13:13 EST, 22 December 2025 | Updated: 14:22 EST, 22 December 2025

Three dangerous inmates, including an alleged murder, broke out of a Georgia jail early Monday morning.

The escapees were identified as Stevenson Charles, 24, Yusuf Minor, 31, and Naod Yohannes, 25.

At around 6am, the DeKalb County Jail discovered the inmates were missing during a ‘routine security check.’

Georgia police say the inmates are ‘dangerous’, may be armed, and urge the public to exercise extreme caution and avoid them.

The county jail’s entrance and exit were closed off and authorities have surrounded the perimeter of the building.

‘We take this breach very seriously and are working diligently to ensure these individuals are safely returned to custody as quickly as possible,’ Sheriff Melody M. Maddox said.

The sheriff’s office, DeKalb Police, and the U.S. Marshals Service are assisting in the search.

Charles was charged with murder and armed robbery and has committed a slew of serious crimes and serving a life sentence at the time of the jail break, according to U.S. Marshals.

He was also convicted in 2023 for carjacking, kidnapping, and robbing five victims in Miami, per Atlanta News First.

Charles connected with some of his past victims through the dating app Grindr.

In 2023, the 24-year-old pleaded guilty to false imprisonment, aggravated sodomy, two counts of kidnapping, two counts of armed robbery, and two counts of aggravated assault, per the outlet.

The murder suspect is about 5ft 7inches and weighs around 200 pounds and authorities say he has ties to the Miami and Atlanta areas.

Yohannes was charged with assault, arson, and unlawful acts of violence in a penal institution.

Minor faces two counts of armed robbery and two counts of possession of a fire arm.

The U.S. Marshals believe the inmates broke out on Sunday evening, or early Monday morning.

‘Let the message go out to Mr. Charles and all other fugitives. We are looking for and we will find you,’ Thomas E. Brown, the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Georgia, said.

‘Any person who violates the laws of the United States will not be allowed a moment of rest.

‘You will never find peace. You will answer for your crimes,’ Brown said.

The Daily Mail reached out to the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office for additional comment.

    This is an ongoing story.
