Ghanaian midfielder, Thomas Partey has expressed his disappointments following Villareal’s 2-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the Spanish La Liga on Sunday, September 14, 2025.

The former Arsenal midfielder noted that his team’s performances were unimpressive, which led to their disappointing defeat to their struggling opponents.

He urged his teammates to learn from their mistakes, make corrections, and bounce back stronger in their subsequent games.

The former Atletico Madrid player fumed about the defensive blunders that contributed to the goals they conceded.

“I think it was a difficult game for us, even though we created good chances. Sometimes you don’t take your chances, and you concede from a goal that you give away.

“It’s an error that shouldn’t happen, but it’s part of football. We have to learn from this and keep working,” he said in an interview with Sporty TV.

Partey has been instrumental for the Spanish side since joining them from Arsenal as a free agent.

After four matches played, Villareal are fifth on the league table with seven points; Real Madrid lead with 12 points, while Barcelona are third with 10 points.
