Thomas Partey is expected to leave Villarreal CF at the end of the season after reports emerged that the Spanish club will not extend his contract.
The Ghana international joined Villarreal last year after leaving Arsenal FC upon the expiration of his deal in England. Partey signed a one-year contract with an option for an additional season, but the club is now reportedly unwilling to activate the extension clause.
The 31-year-old midfielder endured a difficult campaign plagued by minor injuries that limited his consistency and prevented him from becoming a regular starter in the squad.
Despite those setbacks, Partey still managed 30 appearances across all competitions, contributing his experience and leadership in midfield during key moments of the season.
The former Atlético Madrid star is now set to become a free agent ahead of the summer transfer window, with speculation already beginning over his next destination.
Although his club future remains uncertain, Partey is still expected to play an important role for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
The experienced midfielder is widely tipped to be included in Ghana’s squad as the Black Stars prepare for another appearance on football’s biggest stage.
