‘This lawlessness must stop!’ – KSM slams non-compliant trotro drivers over fare reduction directive

Renowned Ghanaian satirist and broadcaster Kwaku Sintim-Misa (KSM), has publicly criticised commercial bus drivers who are defying the Ghana Private Road Transport Union’s (GPRTU) directive to reduce transport fares by 15%.

The fare reduction, which took effect on May 24, 2025, was implemented in response to a significant drop in fuel prices.

However, some trotro drivers have refused to comply with the directive, citing the costs of spare parts and other vehicle accessories as reasons.

In a video posted on his YouTube channel, KSM expressed his frustration, stating that while many drivers are adhering to the new fares, a few “Die Hard ones” continue to resist, acting “stupidly.”

“All those drivers who say they won’t comply. They don’t know what they are talking about. See, this is where we keep our focus to build our nation. This is where we make sure that nobody distracts us with any acts of lawlessness like this one.

“So, to all the Trotro drivers, plenty are complying. Now they are thinking. But there are still a few Die Hard ones talking about they won’t comply, and who are acting stupidly, let me tell you, Wo’boa!” he said.

KSM concluded his remarks by acknowledging the drivers who are complying with the directive, stating, “All those trotro drivers, to me, are just making noise, but at the end of the day, they will comply.

“We have seen some positive people who are willing to comply. And those people are more than the stubborn ones.”

In response to the non-compliance, some commuters have called on police officers to enforce the new fares.

Meanwhile, the GPRTU and local authorities continue to urge all commercial drivers to adhere to the fare reduction to alleviate the financial burden on commuters.
