Dr Eric Bempong, a lecturer at KAAF University, has warned the country’s security apparatus to intervene in what he termed as a “pending danger” between the Dormaahene, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II and the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

According to the university don, Dormaahene’s recent utterances could spark a conflict with unimaginable consequences if care is not taken.

Citing historical incidents, Dr Bempong recalled that the ongoing Bawku conflict between the Kusasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups in northern Ghana, which has escalated, began with similar provocations.

Speaking in an interview on Oyerepa TV on August 27, 2025, Dr Bempong urged the security agencies to act swiftly before the situation degenerates into conflict.

“Security agencies, where are they? The man is beating war drums. This is the same way the Bawku conflict started way back in 1957. It started small, small like this.

“So, where are the Security Council and Peace Council? If this degenerates into something bigger, are we going to have the peace we deserve? Peace is very expensive, and to get it, you need to be proactive,” he warned.

He further expressed concern about Dormaahene’s comments, which targeted the Golden Stool of the Asantes.

“Now he is attacking the Golden Stool. If care is not taken, this could be worse. Someone is issuing such provocative statements, and nobody is talking about it. We are being hypocritical,” Dr Bempong stated.

“So, those war drums that the Dormaahene is beating, he needs to be spoken to; otherwise, it could generate into something dangerous,” he added.

His remarks follow Dormaahene’s recent comment about the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi, which is believed to have descended from the sky through the invocation of the high priest Okomfo Anokye.

Dormaahene, however, challenged that historical narrative, insisting the stool looked “welded” when it was recently displayed publicly.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie. Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?”

According to historical accounts, however, the Golden Stool is said to have descended in a cloud of white dust, amidst thunder, and landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, at the command of Okomfo Anokye.

Dormaahene has, in recent times, established himself as an outspoken critic of historical narratives, particularly those he believes distort Ghana’s history.
