A brazen thief tried to return a £1,350 jacket to Harrods just moments after smashing into a Tesla to steal it.
Opinder Kaushal, 47, had only purchased the luxury Stone Island coat from the iconic department store just a short while prior.
After buying the jacket, Mr Kaushal placed the white Stone Island bag in the back of his £40,000 Tesla 3 before driving from Knightsbridge to Mayfair.
Parking on Green Street, Mr Kaushal left his car to go have lunch but returned afterwards to find that the boot of his car had been broken into with police already on the scene.
The high-tech vehicle does boast an inbuilt CCTV camera though which managed to capture the shocking moment the thief pulled up and smashed in the car’s back window.
Carefully propping up his bike against the side of the car, the thief reached through the smashed window to remove the white Stone Island bag.
Opinder had left the receipt in the bag and because he paid in cash, he contacted Harrods about getting a duplicate one so he could claim on his insurance.
He said he was then shocked to be told by the store that the crook had gone in and tried to get a refund just two hours later that same day (March 10).

Opinder, of Reading, Berkshire, said: ‘I went to Harrods and bought the jacket. I put it in the boot, it was not on show.
‘Obviously someone collared me, putting it in the boot. I drove to Mayfair and parked up in Green Street and when I came back the police were there’.
Opinder also told NeedToKnow: ‘The receipt was in the bag. I went back to Harrods and told them what happened.
‘I drove back home and then they said the thief came back. The staff confronted him and he ran away’.
Speaking to the incident, a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said: ‘Police are investigating a theft that occurred at around 3:50pm on Monday, 10 March in Green Street, W1.
‘In which a man was reported to have stolen items from the back of a car.
‘No arrest have been made at this stage. Enquiries continue’.
